Milwaukee

I flew to Milwaukee this weekend to visit my bestie! Here she is rejoicing in front of the world's greatest soup restaurant, which I've been dreaming about revisiting since my last trip to Milwaukee:

The highlight of the weekend was hanging out at her niece's 5th birthday party. There were cute babies and awesome little kids everywhere, and a moonbounce! I last saw her niece and nephew nearly two years ago, when they were 3 and 1, so was surprised when they saw me this time and immediately ran over and gave me a big hug, since I figured there was no way they would remember me. After the hug I asked "do you know who I am?" and they gleefully shouted "no!" before moving on to the next thing. Kids are the best.

The other highlight was singing/re-enacting all of Hamilton over the course of the weekend, but it's probably for the best that there is no record of that particular activity.

We also ate lots of awesome stuff, because that's what we do. My favorite was roasted corn from the farmers market:

And æbleskivers for breakfast:

The weekend flew by in about five seconds, but it was pure happiness to be able to spend it frolicking together.
And at least the pain of leaving was dulled, albeit ever so slightly, by the Milwaukee airport and its delightful post-security signage:
